Auction Day 4!

Well here was are, day 4 and there is still so much awesome art to bid on. Just to review I have listed all the pieces so far and how much the went for. I am still in awe of theses numbers, thank you everyone!

For those that are checking out the auction items, I thank you in advance. I do need to apologize though. If you are ever frustrated about the actual picture taken on the item, you can gear those frustrations towards me. 🙂 I take terrible pictures. But my guess is that when you actually buy it and get the artwork in the mail, you will be pleasantly surprised that it is even more beautiful in person. 🙂

Our seventh item up for bids comes from Dawn, whose an awesome mommy to Aiden AKA, Biggie. This mixed media artwork has beautiful decoupaged rainbow butterflies. It would be a beautiful addition to any dorm room, children’s room, or butterfly enthusiast.  The dimensions are 21x17x1.5. We named it Rainbow Flight.

The eighth piece up for auction come from an amazing family. The Burks are one of a kind and they have a one of a kind little boy named Jadon, AKA “Bug”. His dad Tony made two very special pieces for the art auction. Let me show the one that has already sold.

I know right? It simply blew my mind when we opened the box to reveal such a special item. It is all wood and hand-painted. This is where the story gets even better. It was sold at the SMA Art Auction on August 13th. A dear friend purchased it and then regifted it back to Miss Getty. My heart is just thumping with happiness. The piece was named Getty Rocks and that is exactly what Getty will be doing with her very own guitar.

Notice I said two pieces. Tony also made a very special piece entitled HERO. I want to read the inscription on the back because it says it all.

” All SMA Kiddos are heroes for the way they smile at life despite what they must endure.”

I couldn’t agree more. This one of kind wood carving is painted in blue with beautiful footprints of Jadon feet. 🙂 This would be an amazing piece for any nursery, a motivational piece of art for any office, or kids room.

Tell 5!

I wanted to be able to sneak this in before our next round of auction items tomorrow morning. So in total I sent out 120 Tell 5! Packets. Again I am no math whiz but that is over 600 people that now have become aware of SMA! That is awareness! And to think that idea came from only one cup of coffee. I am usually a three cupper myself. 🙂

So now next steps, I want to see your pictures. Any pictures you have taken of you giving the bracelet or postcard or both to someone will count and you will be entered to win a $50 giftcard and a Lullabies for Getty CD. It is that simple! Each picture is an entry.

Email all of your pictures to hoot@gettyowl.org. We will randomly pick one winner, I will also like to upload all the pictures so everyone can see all the awareness that was spread, literally around the world. Like I said before, SMA is running out of places to hide, and you are all helping us make SMA a mainstream disease. The more we talk about it, the more people become aware, the bigger the fight to find a cure! I truly believe that anything is possible.

Okay so the deadline for the pictures is August 31st. I will reveal the winner and all the pictures on September 1st.

I have had a few very nice people opt out of the giveaway, to you I say thank you, but I still want to see your pictures. 🙂

Auction Day 3!

As Getty sleeps this morning I want to wish her a very happy 17 months! We will be watching Sleeping Beauty this afternoon for her celebration. Shhhhhh! Don’t tell her. It is so fun to surprise her with that movie. Her eyes light up when she hears the “Once upon a dream” song. 🙂

I can’t tell you how incredible this is. And what is even more amazing is that I have many more pieces that I know will be embraced and welcomed into your home. Thank you all for bidding and checking our auction.

Our fifth piece comes from our very own Morgan Saunders. She has been such a powerful force for us as a family and as a foundation. She will be running in the Disney Half-Marathon in early September and we are so proud of her. She has been raising money for the foundation while she trained and let me also tell you that she will literally be dressed as Ariel. From head to toe she will be in all Ariel garb running to spread SMA awareness. Morgan also takes great pictures and the fifth piece is her creation. We called it Nest of Life.

The sixth item up for auction comes from Angel Andy’s younger sister, Miss Lucy. It is a beautifully decorated frame with almost 3 dimensional butterflies fluttering out of the frame. Such a special piece and I hope you find it would be a welcome addition to your home. We named it Butterflies in Flight.

Auction Day 2!

I woke up this morning to a big sold sign on our first piece, Abstract Minnie! What an incredible start to our SMA Auction.I wish I could do a scrolling total like they do on telethons.

But for now, I want to show our third piece. It is by Miss Natalie and we called it Desert Flowers. Such a sweet acrylic painting. I hope you check it out and bid.

The fourth piece up for bids is from a little guy name Charleston, “Cash”. We named the piece with his spirit in mind. Gallant Strength is a strong steed that exudes gracefulness and so does Mr. Cash.
